Services

Our services

Welcome Visitors can:

  • pop in for an hour to visit someone who spends a lot of time alone; either at home, hospital or care home
  • stay for longer to give a full time carer a break
  • accompany people on medical visits
  • attend social events or classes together
  • enable older people to get out and about with confidence
  • deliver activity and exercise sessions in residential care homes, individuals homes and community settings

As a Welcome Visitor we are experienced in making older adults feel valued. We take the time to learn about the individual and tailor our visits to suit.

We believe that by engaging in their interests of past or present we are able to encourage people to share their stories and memories in a relaxed atmosphere in the security of their own home.

Who needs a Welcome Visitor?

We specialise in visiting people who are in need of companionship or comfort and security.

  • Loved ones sometimes find it difficult to offer the time that they would like. We can offer continuity of visits with the same visitor on a regular basis to build a reliable friendship.

  • Some older adults living alone have carers, cleaners, gardeners, meals delivered etc but these visitors are always under time pressures to achieve their other objectives. Welcome Visitors only have one objective and that is to spend dedicated time talking and really listening.

  • Sometimes a full time carer needs to take some time-out but are not comfortable leaving their loved one alone or with an unfamiliar carer. We can sit with the older person to ensure they are safe and still feel well cared for while their primary carer is out. During this time we will talk, listen and engage the person in meaningful activity depending on their interests. We have a lot of experience with those living with various stages and types of dementia.

  • Welcome Visitor also deliver planned and tailored activity sessions to small groups in residential care homes. With the focus on mental and physical stimulation with emotional wellbeing at the heart.

  • New to 2021: We can deliver the brilliant Love to Move seated exercise programme to groups or individuals. This is designed to improve cognitive function in older adults especially those living with dementia or other neurological conditions.
